A lot of what you say is easy when you have large hands and long fingers when you talk about your pinky but what do you do when your hands are small and your fingers are stubby and suffer from arthritis?
I understand that can lead to frustration @VincentVillescaz. My advice is to work with a teacher who can show you things that you can succeed at. Dylan plays an Em as the 2nd Chord in the CHORUS. However, if you listen to Jerry Garcia's LIVE version with JGB, they are definitely playing an E‐major, (or actually, an E‐⁷), that clearly matches the females that are singing harmony at that point. In the Chorus, Garcia plays C to E‐⁷ (major not minor). It seems to add more tension and dynamics to the lyrics and the changing mood of the Chorus? But it's really a moot point, especially, when you consider how often Bob Dylan has been changing his songs over the years where they are entirely different songs that share the same lyrics. A good example is how Bob changed "Tryin' To Get To Heaven (Before They Close The Door)" on 1997 "Time Out Of Mind" lp. Just 3 years later, Live in Cardiff, Wales, he changed the Key signature, the timing and the entrire melody. I'll look for the live video and insert it below.
